As industry
professionals, Youngblood's Resource Specialists will offer
ideas that help you construct a better, more powerful resume
by illustrating how best you can represent yourself, your
work history, and your talents as they relate to the opportunities
you are seeking. Following are some tips to help you get started:
- Include sections such as your Objective,
Work History, Education, Computer Skills, and/or Skills.
- When listing your Work History, begin
with your most recent employment working backward.
- When describing each of your past jobs,
be specific with your job duties/responsibilities. Do not
write long paragraphs. Try bullet lists instead. Use strong
verbs and industry keywords, but remember that "big"
talk can sound presumptuous.
- Do not falsify information or over-exaggerate.
An interview or background check usually reveals the truth.
- Do not provide personal information
such as your age, weight, race, etc. These have nothing
to do with your qualifications to do the job.
- Do not use silly fonts or pictures
show that you are serious in the employment they offer.
- In your Education section, feel
free to include your GPA (if over 3.0) or any scholarships
or awards you received. You may also briefly list any organizations/fraternities/sororities
you participated in.
